Fund Activities
The ANZCRF has a strong and continuing commitment to the education of
health professionals about coeliac disease. Committee members
work with industry partners in the hosting and presentation of lectures
to gastroenterologists, general practitioners and other health
professionals with an interest in coeliac disease, its diagnosis,
treatment and the directions in research.
Resources developed through the Fund include a Coeliac Disease Audit
Tool – a modelling program for General Practitioners to use
in assessing the potential incidence of CD in their patient populations.
In May 2007, an educational CD on Coeliac Disease was launched in
Australia and New Zealand. This is a landmark project, with
“pathways” for both the general public and for
medical practitioners. It is a comprehensive program, and has
been adopted by the Coeliac Society of Australia as an official
resource, and is attracting professional interest in Australasia, USA
and Europe. For more information visit our Coeliac
CD information pages.
The focus of fundraising is an annual Research Appeal. This
is held in partnership with the Coeliac Societies of Australia and
provides the core funds to support research grants
To inform our community regarding advances in coeliac disease research,
the ANZCRF maintains a column in the quarterly Coeliac Society magazine
– the national publication of the Coeliac Society of
Australia. This is an important medium through which the Fund
can talk directly to our audience.
Fund Committee members and affiliated health professionals regularly
provide presentations at public conferences and health forums
– spreading the understanding of coeliac disease, its
diagnosis, treatment and directions in research. |
